In the spirit of the Valentine’s Day holiday, Bohemia-based roofing, windows and siding company, King Quality, unveiled a new roof for the home of retired registered nurse, Sandra Jenkins, on February 11, 2021.

Ms. Jenkins, who lives on Mansfield Avenue in Roosevelt, could not afford to pay for a roof on her own. Despite her economic limitations, she has been donating food to her neighbors, who have been affected by COVID-19.

Ms. Jenkins volunteers her time to local organizations and calls it her “mission work” in her retirement. King Quality was so touched by Ms. Jenkins’ charitable work, despite her financial situation, they decided to “give back” to her with the installation of a much-needed roof for her home. GAF roofing manufacturer and ABC Supply donated the materials, and Superior Waste provided cleanup services at no charge.

“Even though Sandra has faced her own setbacks in life, she is a giving and caring person who helps her community in many ways,” said King Quality Owner Jeff Brett. “When we learned of her story, we wanted to show our support by donating a roof for her home. On behalf of the entire King Quality team, we are fortunate to be in a position to assist Sandra and it gives us all a wonderful feeling to help her in this way.”

Ms. Jenkins was involved in a car accident in 2001 and suffered injuries to her back. Forced to retire early, she has been in financial strife for the last several years.

“I am very grateful for the roof donation,” said Ms. Jenkins. “My roof saw wear and tear in recent years and for many months, I was concerned about how to pay for a new one. King Quality answered my prayers. I am forever thankful for their generosity.”

After the unveiling, King Quality gave a bouquet of roses and a heart filled with chocolates to Ms. Jenkins in recognition of Valentine’s Day.
