MAMS Teams Participate in Spirit Day

The events allowed students to get to know each other better and gave teachers a chance to familiarize themselves with all of the students.

Students at Merrick Avenue Middle School recently took part in team spirit days.

The events allowed students to get to know each other better and gave teachers a chance to familiarize themselves with all of the students.

During their spirit days, seventh and eighth grade students participated in team-building and icebreaker activities designed to help them learn about one another and build trust.

“Team-building is important because there are so many challenges facing young adolescents today,”  seventh-grade social studies teacher Rick Aceste said. “The idea of social and emotional learning, and the idea of getting to know each other and treating this school as a community, are qualities that are extremely important moving forward."
