Merrick School Budget Passes
The votes are in for the district's 2020-21 budget. See how it fared in your community.

MERRICK, NY — The results are in, and the Merrick School District's budget passed.
The vote was 2,678 to 1,238 in favor of the spending plan.
In addition, residents cast votes for three open seats on the Board of Education. Incumbent Jill Levine and newcomer Nicole Venditti were elected to three-year terms, earning 2,763 and 2,267 votes, respectively. Incumbent Butch Yamalli was re-elected to serve out a one-year term with 1,181 votes.

Challenger Erik Bashan received 909 votes, Richard Solemanzadeh received 882 votes and Lukas Gubba earned 508 votes.
All of the votes were cast by absentee ballot this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
