Nassau Fire Leaves 13 Families Homeless

ROOSEVELT, NY — Thirteen families were left without homes after a fire tore through a residential building in Roosevelt early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the fire broke out around 1 a.m. at 132 Nassau Road, which has apartments above storefronts. Officers on the scene were able to rescue 15 residents from the building, and an additional 10 to 15 people were evacuated from nearby homes.

The Roosevelt Fire Department, along with 13 other fire departments, all responded and put out the fire. No one was injured by the blaze.

In all, 13 families were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross came to the scene to help them.

The Nassau County Police Arson Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.
