Nassau Man Shot In Botched Robbery: Police

Police say the man was shot through the hand after struggling with the robber, who then fled.

ROOSEVELT, NY — A Nassau man was shot in an attempted robbery Thursday night, and police are looking for his attacker.

According to police, a 48-year-old man was on Park Avenue in Roosevelt at 8:40 p.m. when he was approached from behind by another man. The man put a gun to the victim's back and demanded money.

The two struggled, and the robber shot the victim through the hand, and then fled on foot. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police say the robber was 20 to 30 years old, with a thin build. he was wearing all black clothes and a red and black face mask.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244 TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
