Officers Nab Nassau Man Walking Down Street With Gun: Police

Police say the man was spotted by plain clothes officers while he was walking with a loaded handgun in his pocket.

ROOSEVELT, NY — A Freeport man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for illegally carrying a handgun, Nassau County police said.

According to police, at 1:12 p.m., plain clothes officers saw Eury Pimentel-Torres, 23, of Rose Street, Freeport, cross Nassau Road at the intersection of Taylor Avenue in Roosevelt, causing traffic to abruptly stop. As the officers watched him, police said they believed he had a gun in his pocket.

The officers approached Pimentel-Torres and saw the gun, police said, and placed him under arrest. Police say he was in possession of a loaded handgun.

Pimentel-Torres is charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a firearm. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today.
