First Snowflakes Of The Season Set To Fall On Long Island

LONG ISLAND, NY — The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Long Island:

A period of light to moderate snow will occur late this morning and through afternoon across the New York City metro. A dusting to a couple tenths of an inch of snow may occur. Be alert for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility if traveling.

Wednesday Afternoon- Snow before 2 p.m., then rain and snow likely. High near 39. West wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Wednesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind 11 to 13 mph.

Thursday- Sunny, with a high near 47. Northwest wind 10 to 13 mph.

Thursday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 35. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm.

Friday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming northwest in the morning.

Friday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42.

Saturday- Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53.

Saturday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Sunday- A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54.
