19-Story Residential Tower to Replace 4-Story Office Building in Midtown
The building will stand 237 feet tall and contain 16 apartments. The tower will also include space allocated for commercial use.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Plans have been filed with the city Department of Buildings to demolish a 4-story office building in Midtown and replace it with a 19-story residential tower.
The new residential tower at 7 W. 57th St., between Eight and Ninth avenuesm will rise 237 feet tall and contain 16 apartments, according to building plans filed last week. The building will be zoned for 32,099 square feet of residential space, meaning the average apartment unit will be around 2,006 square feet large. Two of the apartments will have private roof terraces and the building will have a terrace on its top floor, according to building plans.
In addition to apartments the building will contain a retail space the will occupy three floors — the cellar, first floor and second floor. The retail space will be 4,131 square feet large, according to the building plans.

The building site is currently occupied by a four-story office building, which developers have filed to demolish.
The new residential tower will be designed by Goldstein, Hill & West Architects, according to the building plans. The property owner is listed as the Solow Realty & Development Company.
