5 Things to Do In Midtown This Fourth of July Weekend
Midtown is chock-full of events this Independence Day weekend. Between the Ghostbusters and rooftop parties, you won't be bored.
The Fourth of July presents what may feel like a million opportunities for fun. We've picked out five of them in Midtown so you won't have to hunt forever.
- Go see the opening of the Madame Tussauds Ghostbusters Experience exhibit. In honor of the new — and hopefully amazing — Ghostbusters movie, go "catch ghosts" in a hyper-reality experience (presented by THE VOID software company) and ride on the Ecto-2. Tickets cost from $30-$50, depending on how badly you want to feel like a 'buster.
- If you're 21 or older, you can party for up to nine hours at the A Day In Space rooftop party at Ibiza New York (637 West 50th St.) from 2 p.m.–11 p.m. on July 3. If you're a lady and remember to RSVP, you'll even get in for free until 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person, unless you get a VIP special — which costs a tad more, at $600.
- If you feel like getting rid of $200 or more, go to Riverpark on the East River for a Fourth of July barbecue. According to their website, there'll be "indoor and outdoor seating, an open bar and games such as corn hole, bocce ball and Ping-Pong," so go for it and eat the famously good food while you're at it.
- See Top Gun for free on the lawn at Bryant Park. The movie starts anywhere from 8 p.m.–9 p.m., but the lawn will open at 5 p.m. so you can bring food and all the picnic gear you need.
- Learn how to juggle! It may sound nuts, but what better way to spend your holiday weekend than bettering yourself? Go to Park West at 1 Penn Plaza at 1 p.m. on July 1 for free juggling lessons, or to show off your juggling skills. You don't even need to come prepared — equipment will be provided for you.
