Billionaire's Row Apartment Is Third In NYC To Net $100M: Report
The penthouse is located in the same building with New York's record-setting $238 million apartment.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A deal for the third New York City apartment to sell for at least $100 million recently closed as construction wraps up on an ultra-luxury Billionaire's Row tower, according to reports.
The deal is for a four-bedroom penthouse that measures in at nearly 10,000 square feet in 220 Central Park South, the Wall Street Journal first reported. The same building set New York City's sales record earlier this year when hedge funder Ken Griffin snapped up a $238 million pad in the tower.
Michael Dell's $100 million purchase of a home in One57, another Billionaire's Row building, is the only other sale to top the nine-figure mark. Dell was revealed as the One57 buyer years after the 2014 closing of the apartment, which at the time was a record setter for New York.

The buyer of the latest nine-figure home remains a mystery, the Wall Street Journal reported. It's likely that the deal was agreed to in previous years, but only recently closed due to the 220 Central Park South's near completion.
Real estate experts told the Wall Street Journal that nine-figure apartment sales don't reflect current trends in luxury real estate. New taxes on multi-million dollar real estate purchases and an oversupply of luxury homes has weakened the market.
