NEW YORK, NY — Are museums your thing? What about city history? If you want to learn something new this weekend, Manhattan has you covered. Here's what's going on.
Choco-Story New York
Neighborhood: Lower Manhattan
What: Get an up-close look at New York City’s first chocolate museum and learn how chocolate is made — from plant to package — during a self-guided tour of this 5,000-square-foot space. Eight chocolate tastings and a bonbon demonstration are included, as well as access to a number of children’s activities.
Where: Jacques Torres Chocolate, Hudson Street at King Street
When: Get your chocolate on Saturday at 10 a.m. Tours will be held every 30 minutes. Last tour begins at 4:30 p.m.
NYRR Central Park Running History Tour
Neighborhood: Starting point in Hell’s Kitchen
What: Take a free, leisurely jog through the city as you pass some of its most historic landmarks, including the "Imagine" mosaic, Fred Lebow statue and the TCS New York City Marathon finish line.
Where: Event begins at NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the NB Run Hub, West 57th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues

Eighth Annual New York City Poetry Festival

Underground Manhattan, The Secret History of the Subway System
Neighborhood: Tour begins in Lower Manhattan
What: A subterranean adventure into New York’s underground transportation system. Learn about the creation of the original 1904 subway line and its growth over the past century. Get an up-close look at the art, architecture and secrets hidden inside the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, Astor Place and Times Square stations. Finally, check out the 6 train’s Old City Hall Station, formerly known as the “crown jewel of the subway system,” which closed more than 70 years ago.

When: The underground experience commences Saturday at 2 p.m.
Central Park Free Meditation
Neighborhood: Central Park
What: Relieve stress through a gratis, guided meditation session in this scenic, outdoor environment. Bring your own mats.
Where: Diana Ross Playground lawn in Central Park, Central Park West at West 81st Street
