MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — New York City is partnering with an urgent care provider to establish two new coronavirus testing sites in Midtown Manhattan.

The new testing sites at Medrite clinics located at 330 W. 42nd St. and 919 Second Ave. are part of a rollout of four new testing sites that will push the city's testing capacity over 50,000 daily tests, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday.

"Widespread testing and tracing is the key to reopening our city safely," de Blasio. "Getting tested isn't just about taking care of yourself—it's a civic duty to your fellow New Yorkers. We have made testing as fast and convenient as possible to ensure New Yorkers have the tools they need to protect themselves and their loved ones."

Medrite clinics in Inwood and Clinton Hill will also offer coronavirus testing through the urgent care provider's new partnership with the city. The city already partners with urgent care providers such as CityMD and Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care on testing. New Yorkers can also visit NYC Health + Hospital locations to receive free coronavirus testing.

New York City has managed to contain coronavirus infections despite advancing through its phased reopening of the economy, which returned hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers to work and opened up activities such as outdoor dining, city officials announced this week. Ted Long, who leads the city's "Test + Trace" corps, said Thursday the city's coronavirus cases are now at the lowest rate since the pandemic struck.

The tracing program has found and isolated 2,000 people with coronavirus symptoms, Long said.
