Co-Living Space Coming To Hell's Kitchen In 2019: Reports

The 32-unit co-living space will be the company Common's first venture in Manhattan.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A co-living company with operations in Brooklyn and Queens is planning to open its first Manhattan location next year in Hell's Kitchen, according to reports.

The co-living company Common has started construction on a 32-bed facility on West 47th Street between Ninth and 10th avenues, real estate publication Curbed first reported. The space is being built by YD Development and will feature eco-friendly components such as smart thermostats, low-flow plumbing and a custom solar canopy, Curbed reported.

The Hell's Kitchen facility will resemble other Common co-living spaces in the outer boroughs. Residents will rent their own private rooms, but have access to shared amenities and services such as free Wi-Fi and housekeeping, Curbed reported.

Homes at Common come furnished and are stocked with basic items such as pots and pans, dishes and soap, according to the company's website.

The company decided to expand to Hell's Kitchen because of its proximity to business centers such as Midtown and the upcoming Hudson Yards development, a company executive told Curbed.
