16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is the longest running
campaign of its kind. GBV can include intimate partner and family violence, elder abuse,
sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. Started in 1991 at the Center for Women’s
Global Leadership at Rutgers University, 16 Days of Activism now spans over 120 countries
across the world through the work of grassroots activists organizing to prevent and
respond to GBV.
