Cops Make Arrest in Double Murder from Six Years Ago
Police announced an arrest in a long-ago murder case in the Flatiron District.

Police announced early Friday they'd made an arrest in a double murder from six years ago. Frank Smith, 31, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in the shooting deaths of Rashawn Washington and Terrance Serrano.

Police allege Smith shot both Serrano and Washington in the head as they sat in an SUV at 19th Street between Park Avenue and Broadway on Oct. 4, 2010. They were both pronounced dead on the scene.

The Daily News reported at the time that Serrano and Washington were potential witnesses in two separate murders. Neither were reportedly helping the police. The Daily News quoted a law enforcement source as saying the two were "gang-bangers" and that was likely the reason they were killed.
All three men are from Coney Island.

At the time, police said two men were involved in the shooting of Serrano and Washington and the NYPD said Friday that the investigation was ongoing.
