Crosswords And Couture | Manhattan This Weekend

Sit front row at a couture fashion show, sample ramen recipes from all over New York and take a walk through time.

NEW YORK, NY — Fashion, ramen, beer and music. There’s something for everyone in Manhattan this weekend. Here’s what’s happening.

Couture Fashion Week
Neighborhood:
Midtown
What: The 28th annual event will feature handmade and “exquisite” clothing stitched by renowned designers from all over the globe. General admission is available for each show, or you can purchase all-day, platinum VIP tickets. Front row seating is available at an additional cost. Separate tickets are also being sold for the show’s after parties, which includes a two-hour open bar, plus a dinner buffet, music and dancing. Click here for more information.
Where: Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, Broadway between West 48th and West 49th streets
When: Fashion shows begin at 4, 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. After parties begin at 9:30 p.m.

NYC World Ramen Contest Vol. 8
Neighborhood:
West Village
What: Two days of ramen tastings, featuring unique creations from eight New York City-based shops. RSVP for a free drink. Admission is free of charge, but ramen dishes cost $10 each. Three dish purchases gets you yet another free drink. Click here to RSVP.
Where: Bleecker Street between West 10th and Christopher streets
When: The noodle madness begins Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.

Bryant Park Coffee & Crosswords Tournament
Neighborhood:
Midtown
What: Test your problem-solving skills and compete with your neighbors for prizes. Coffee will be provided, but feel free to brew up your favorite beans on site.
Where: Bryant Park Reading Room, enter from Fifth Avenue or Sixth Avenue between West 40th and West 42nd streets
When: Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

OctFest
Neighborhood:
New York Harbor
What: A two-day beer, music and food festival featuring a live musical performances from The Flaming Lips and others. More than 250 varieties of craft beer will be on tap from more than 90 breweries that represent 20 countries around the world. Single-day tickets include 15 three-ounce samples. Two-day admission includes 30 samples, capped at 15 per day. Click here for more information.

A Walk Through Time
Neighborhood:
Greenwich Village
What: A commissioned work that showcases the personal narratives of seven New Yorkers, whose routines are chronicled through portraits and oral histories, shared during a walking tour of The High Line. Each of subjects represents the range of diverse, yet sometimes intersecting identities found in New York City.
Where: The High Line at Gansevoort and Washington streets
When: Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

D.S. DestiNY Preview Performances
Neighborhood:
Lower Manhattan
What: Visit the heart of New York City’s financial district and watch the buildings come to life during this “one-of-a-kind multimedia experience” that uses virtual reality and “state-of the art technology” to create a 360-degree dreamscape.
Where: Cipriani 25 Broadway, Broadway at Morris Street
When: Sunday at 10 a.m.

Sakura Park Festival
Neighborhood:
Morningside Heights
What: An all-ages, free festival that celebrates Harlem’s global arts, food and community through global dance, live music, games and hands-on activities. Delicious eats will be served up fresh from a variety of local restaurants.
Where: Riverside Drive at West 122nd Street
When: Sunday at 12 p.m.
