Demolition Plans Filed For Site Of Next Billionaire's Row Tower

A 672-foot tower is expected to rise at the West 57th Street site between Fifth and Sixth avenues.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Developers planning the next Billionaire's Row tower in Midtown Manhattan have filed plans with the city to demolish existing buildings on the development site, according to public records.

Solow Realty & Development Group filed plans to demolish two buildings at 10-14 W. 57th St. and 20 W. 57th St. with the city Department of Buildings. The adjacent buildings are located between Fifth and Sixth avenues.

Plans did not specify when demolition is expected to occur.

The same developer filed plans in April to construct a 672-foot-tall tower on the site. The 52-story tower will be zoned for both residential and commercial uses and contain a total of 383,134 square feet of developed space, according to building plans.

More than half of the new building will be dedicated to its residential component, according to building plans. The development will contain 80 apartments spanning 202,738-square-feet of residential space. The average apartment unit will be about 2,534 square feet large, indicating luxury apartments are can be expected.

The remaining 180,396 square feet will be dedicated to the building's commercial component. Retail space will be located in the building's cellar and up through the fourth floor, according to development plans.

The architecture firm Skidmore Owings & Merrill will be in charge of the new building's design, according to development plans.
