Knicks Owner Pens Song 'I Should've Known' About Harvey Weinstein
James Dolan sings "I should have thrown myself across his tracks, stopped him from these vile attacks," about his one-time friend.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — When James Dolan — owner of the New York Knicks and Rangers — isn't finding ways to disappoint New York sports fans you can find him crooning on stage with his band JD and the Straight Shot.
The blues band's latest song — titled "I Should Have Known" — addresses the #MeToo movement in a way that only Dolan seems capable of. The song appears to be an admission of guilt by Dolan for his complicity in the predatory behavior of his good friend Harvey Weinstein. Weinstein is currently facing rape and sexual assault charges in New York, not because his wealthy friends told on him but because his victims came forward to report the crimes.
Dolan — who served on the board of the Weinstein Company — addressed the meaning of the new song in an interview with FOX 5, saying it was written with Weinstein and others accused of sexual misconduct in mind.

"I wonder — and I've actually talked to a lot of my other friends who obviously know all these folks right — I wonder what could I have done, what did I miss. And that's almost really what the song is — what did we miss? Because if you were friends with any of those people, a lot of them were people we never would have thought that about."" Dolan said.
Lyrics from the Cablevision heir's new song include: "All the girls who adored him catered to his every whim," and "I should have thrown myself across his tracks / stopped him from these vile attacks."

The song isn't Dolan's first foray into political or controversial topics. In 2014 the band released a song "Under That Hood" about the killing of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed teenager who was stalked and shot by a neighborhood watchman in Florida.
Dolan's "I Should Have Known" doesn't seem to allude to longtime friend and Isiah Thomas, who has been gainfully employed by Dolan for a number of years. Dolan named Thomas president of the New York Liberty — the Knicks' sister team in the WNBA — despite a previous settlement against Thomas and Madison Square Garden for sexual harassment. Dolan's song is called "I Shoud've Known." In the case of Isiah Thomas, he did know, and gave him the job anyway.
