ORIGINAL STORY

For the second time this week, the MTA is dealing with massive power problems — this time on the Long Island Rail Road.

Service has been suspended both ways between New York Penn Station and Jamaica due to a power problem, according to an LIRR spokesperson. They were working to remedy the situation at 8 p.m., but did not have a timeframe for when service might be back on.

The LIRR advised customers to use service out of Atlantic Terminal if possible.

The board on MTA.info pretty much said it all.

According to Twitter complaints, Penn Station was not admitting customers, but a spokesperson for the LIRR did not know if that was the case. He said it is done sometimes to avoid overcrowding when trains are not running during rush hour.

As you can imagine, the complaints on social media were quick and merciless.
