Man Arrested After Attempted Rape In Midtown: Police
A 22-year-old man without a listed residence has been arrested in connection with the early morning attack on a woman in Midtown this month.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — An unhoused man in his twenties has been arrested in connection with the attempted rape of a woman on a Midtown street earlier this month.
Aaron Baker, 22, faces charges of attempted rape, sex abuse and attempted sex abuse following the June 5 attack, which happened around 7 a.m. on East 33rd Street between Park and Madison avenues.
According to police, the victim, a 27-year-old woman, was walking on the street when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her with both hands around the threat, pushed her against a storefront gate and pulled down his pants in an attempt to rape her.

As the woman struggled to fight off the man, she managed to free herself from his grip, causing him to flee on foot in an unknown direction, police said. The woman was treated at the scene for minor cuts to her head.
Police shared surveillance photos of the alleged suspect near the site of the attack and asked anyone with information to help identify him.
