Midtown Attempted Rape: NYPD Seeks Man In Early Morning Attack
Police are searching for a man accused of cornering a woman on a Midtown street on Saturday and trying to rape her.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Police on Sunday asked for help identifying a man accused of attacking a woman and attempting to rape her on a Midtown street over the weekend.
The assault happened around 7 a.m. on Saturday, when the victim, a 27-year-old woman, was walking on East 33rd Street between Park and Madison avenues.
The suspect approached her from behind, grabbed her with both hands around the threat, pushed her against a storefront gate and pulled down his pants in an attempt to rape her, according to police.

As woman struggled to fight off the man, she managed to free herself from his grip, causing him to flee on foot in an unknown direction, police said.
The woman was treated for minor cuts to her head and was treated at the scene, police said.
