Midtown Buildings Named New York's Ugliest

New York state residents are not fond of these neighborhood eyesores.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Midtown Manhattan has its fair share of iconic buildings, but for every Chrysler Building, Empire State Building and Grand Central Terminal there's some hulking monstrosity to balance things out.

That's probably why New York State's two most-hated building are located right in the heart of Midtown. The world-famous Madison Square Garden — and world-loathed Penn Station underneath — and the supertall luxury tower 432 Park Ave. were named New York's ugliest buildings in a survey conducted by Business Insider.

Business Insider readers called Madison Square Garden and Penn Station "ugly on a transcendent level," and blamed 432 Park Ave. for ruining views of the city skyline.

The buildings that made Business Insider's "dishonorable mention" list are all located outside of New York City. Readers were not fond of the Buffalo City Courthouse, Albany's Central Warehouse, Stony Brook Hospital, Syracuse University's Haven Hall — which resembles a toilet bowl if you look closely enough — and Cornell University's Bradfield Hall, according to the survey.
