Midtown Fine Dining Staple Aureole To Become Steakhouse: Chef

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A new steakhouse is coming to a notable Midtown Manhattan address at the expense of famed fine dining staple Aureole, chef and owner Charlie Palmer announced this week.

Aureole will be replaced by a new Charlie Palmer Steak NYC at One Bryant Park, ending a run at the prestigious location for Palmer's signature restaurant, which lost its Micheline star in 2019. The chef-turned-restaurateur determined the Midtown location would be a bigger draw as a steakhouse to best adapt to "evolving needs and palates" of customers.

"We feel strongly that it’s the right time and our mid-Manhattan space the right setting for a steakhouse experience that is both classic and forward-thinking—characteristics that are equally embodied in Charlie Palmer Steak NYC," Palmer said in a statement.

Palmer is currently searching for a Manhattan space to serve as Auerole's new home.

Chef Harold Moore will head the kitchen at the new Charlie Palmer Steak in One Bryant Park, Palmer announced. Planned menu items include a wedge salad with crispy fried onions, steak tartare prepared tableside and, of course, dry-aged porterhouse steak.

His roots may be in French cuisine, but we both share a passion and a vision for reimagining the classic dishes we love, while staying true to what makes them classics in the first place," Palmer said in a statement.
