Election Day in Midtown: Wait Times, Broken Scanners, Crazy People and More

There were a handful of problems across Midtown Manhattan with long lines and broken scanners.

MIDTOWN, NY — There were a handful issues in Midtown at polling places on Tuesday.

The earliest problem of the day came from Jackie Onassis High School on 46th Street where scanners were down just after 8 a.m.

However, Patch was at the location by 10 a.m. and the machines were all fixed and there were no lines.

Lines were long in Midtown East as well.

The waits didn't stop people from coming out to vote, though. A woman named Brenda was exiting Jackie Onassis High School, when she stopped to say she wasn't voting for Hillary Clinton.

"I didn't vote for our sex, the female sex, I'll tell you that," the woman said. "We've always had a white male president and Obama didn't make things any better."

In Chelsea, lines picked back up again as people left work, lining the block at about 4:30 p.m.

It's good to see Trump had at least one supporter, because he encountered quite an angry crowd outside of his own polling place at P.S. 59. Anti-Trump protesters jeered as he entered, and left, the polling place on Tuesday morning. It was at the same polling place, before Trump showed up to vote, that two topless women were escorted out of the building while protesting Trump as well.
