Motorcyclist, 22, Hit And Killed By Mercedes Driver In Midtown

A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Thursday when he collided with a car in Midtown East, police said.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A 22-year-old man riding a motorcycle was hit and killed by a car driver in Midtown early Thursday, police said.

The crash happened around 6:49 a.m. at the intersection of East 57th Street and First Avenue. According to police investigators, a person was driving a 2021 Mercedes Benz east along 57th Street when they reached First Avenue and tried to turn left.

At the intersection, the car collided with the victim, who was riding his red motorcycle west along East 57th Street.

The man was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the pavement. Responding officers found him lying on the ground with trauma across his body.

The man was rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, but he could not be saved. Police have not released the motorcyclist's name, pending family notification.

The driver stayed at the scene and police have made no arrests. The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is still looking into the crash.
