MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The 2019 NBA Draft Lottery is Tuesday, and 14 teams, including the New York Knicks, are finding out who gets dibs on Duke University superstar Zion Williamson and who must pick from the other top-tier players. The lottery, which will be held in Chicago, will air on ESPN starting at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

The Knicks (17-65) finished with the worst record in the NBA last year, which means they will have the top odds at landing the No. 1 pick. Unfortunately for the troubled franchise, this year's lottery rules have been tweaked to level the playing field. The worst three teams all have a 14 percent chance at the top pick.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (19-63) and Phoenix Suns (19-63) also have a 14 percent chance to win the first selection in the NBA's June 20 draft. Every team that doesn't make the NBA playoffs has a chance to win the lottery, but odds favor the worst teams.

The Knicks haven't won the NBA draft lottery since the lottery was created in 1985. The Knicks selected franchise great Patrick Ewing out of Georgetown University with the pick.

Duke superstar Zion Williamson is the consensus first overall pick in the upcoming draft after he dominated competition in college during his freshman season. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound forward used his world-class athleticism and soaring vertical leap to throw down thunderous dunks and record stunning blocks. The North Carolina Native finished the NCAA season with a stat line of 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting an impressive 68 percent from the field. The only areas where Williamson may need to improve in the NBA are three-point shooting (33 percent in college, which isn't bad but the NBA line is further away) and free throws (64 percent in college).

While one team gets Williamson, the stakes are high for other teams too. Other lottery picks will be able to choose from a talented pool of players including fellow Duke star forward R.J. Barrett, Murray State University point guard Ja Morant and Texas Tech University guard Jarrett Culver.
