NEW YORK, NY — Celebrating a new year is a worldwide tradition, but nobody does it like New York City. The annual ball drop in Times Square draws millions of people out into the city streets, making it one of the largest parties on the globe.

It's no wonder why millions more, regardless of where they live, watch the party unfold on TV each year. Recent advances in technology have also made livestreaming the event on a cell phone or over the web possible.
