NYPD Search For Man Accused Of Shouting Anti-Asian Slurs At Woman
The incident in Midtown Manhattan is being investigated as a hate crime.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A 65-year-old Asian woman was harassed in what police are calling a hate crime in Midtown Friday evening. New York City police are looking for the public's help in identifying the man involved.
Around 4 p.m., the man approached the woman in front of 250 West 40th St., police said. He shouted anti-Asian slurs at her, according to police, then waved an "unknown object" toward her and ran away.
The woman described the man to the police as about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with a "medium complexion," balding hair, a medium build and a beard. He was last seen wearing glasses, a dark-checkered coat, jeans and black-and-brown sneakers. The man was pushing a stroller full of "unknown objects," police said.

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the crime stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted on the crime stoppers website.
