MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A developer filed permits with the city on Tuesday to construct a new 900-foot-tall skyscraper on an empty lot one block north of Bryant Park, records show.

The tower, on the corner of Fifth Avenue 43rd Street, will contain nearly 100 apartments and more than 350,000 square feet of commercial space, according to the plans.

The permits were filed by architects Kohn Pedersen Fox: the firm that also designed nearby One Vanderbilt, one of the newest skyscrapers in Midtown, which opened to the public in September.

The owner is listed as Rabina Properties, which has developed a number of office towers and residential buildings in Manhattan.

Plans for the corner site have been in the works for more than a year. In December 2019, New York YIMBY reported on plans to build a slightly taller tower — 920 feet — with different architects and developers reportedly vying to build the skyscraper.
