Photos: Saks Fifth Ave. Lights Up In 'Reimagined' Holiday Display
Midtown's famed holiday windows will look different this year, but the most popular of them all is still shining bright this week.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Saks Fifth Avenue's famed holiday display was revealed Monday night, continuing an annual tradition that promises to look different this year without the customary crowds gathered to gawk at the lights.
The flagship shop lit up its 10-story theatrical light show and holiday window display Monday night, in a small ceremony that featured former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez.
The theme for this year's display is "This is How We Celebrate," which focuses on spending time with loved ones and the diverse ways that people celebrate the holidays across the U.S.

The six windows show different types of celebrations around the city, including a musical celebration in Times Square, a couple delivering gifts via the Roosevelt Island tram and a celebration around a neighborhood food truck at a holiday block party.

This year, given the reality of the pandemic, Saks will be livestreaming nightly ceremonies from inside one of its Fifth Avenue windows. Each night's event will benefit a charitable cause, amounting to $100,000 in donations to local nonprofits by Saks over the holiday season, the company said in a news release.

"After several challenging months for New Yorkers and those around the world, Saks is proud to continue this long-standing tradition and deliver our annual gift to New York as a part of our commitment to revive the city for our community, customers and associates." Saks CEO Marc Metrick said in a statement.
