NEW YORK — Police have responded to Times Square and are warning residents and visitors to expect delays in the area due to an investigation. An "innocent bystander" was shot outside the Marriott Hotel, according to a report from The New York Post.

The bystander, a man, was walking with his family outside the hotel at 1535 Broadway when he was hit by gunfire around 5:35 p.m., The Post reported, citing New York Police Department sources.

The man is 21-years-old and was visiting the city from Upstate New York, ABC reported. Another police source told CBS New York the shooting resulted from a dispute between five or six people.

ABC later reported it was a dispute between CD vendors that led to the shooting. The bullet ricocheted and hit the 21-year-old man, who was not the intended target, the report states.

The wounded man was shot in the back, and is expected to survive, according to the ABC report. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital.
