Queens Man Dies After SUV Driver Hits Him In Midtown, Police Say
A Queens man died after an SUV driver backed into him in Midtown, police said.
MIDTOWN, NY — A Queens man was fatally hit by an SUV in Midtown this week, police said.
Jesus Cepeda, 59, of Ozone Park in Queens, was crossing East 44th Street heading south between First and Second avenues when an SUV driver backed into him Tuesday about 2:50 p.m., police said. Cepeda was knocked to the ground, banging his head, according to police.
Emergency responders rushed Cepeda to Bellevue Hospital with severe head injuries, police said.

Police said that paramedics pronounced him dead Wednesday.
Cops later determined Cepeda crossed the street mid-block, outside the marked crosswalk. They also said the driver, a 57-year-old man, had double-parked his 2011 Ford Escape in the middle of the block on the south side of East 44th Street between First and Second avenues.

There are no arrests, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
