MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A Midtown Manhattan dining and nightlife staple was named one of the best places to eat in New York City by a nonprofit that represents the city's restaurants and entertainment venues.

The Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center will receive the "Love Manhattan Award" at the NYC Hospitality Alliance's fourth-annal awards ceremony this year, the group announced. The award is given to the alliance's three favorite restaurants in the borough.

"The Alliance Awards give us an opportunity to recognize and honor the remarkable people and businesses that contribute so much to our city and make New York City the hospitality capital of the world,"Andrew Rigie, executive director of the New York City Hospitality Alliance, said in a statement.

The two other recipients of the "I Love Manhattan Award" are the famous Magnolia Bakery and Nolita Italian staple Peasant, the alliance announced. The NYC Hospitality Alliance dished out three awards to restaurants in each borough and some individual awards for chefs, managers and other front-of-house positions.

The Rainbow Room first opened in 1934 and has since been named a New York City landmark. The restaurant and event space is located on the 65th floor of Rockefeller Center, making it one of the highest-elevated venues in the city.
