Renderings For New Hell's Kitchen Luxury Building Revealed

The 14-story building is one of the newest luxury apartment complexes to rise in Hell's Kitchen.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — Real estate developers unveiled renderings this week of a new 14-story luxury apartment building coming to Hell's Kitchen.

The Moinian Group is behind the new development at 572 11th Avenue, located between West 43rd and 44th streets, known as "The Oskar." The building will have 118 apartments and is designed by the architectural firm CentraRuddy.

The 183,000-square foot building will sit on a white terracotta base with exterior masonry that echoes the surrounding buildings. The design is heavy on glass and light colors, which will apparently make the building appear as if it's "floating off the sidewalk," according to a press release.

"Oskar has been designed as a sanctuary for urban luxury – a calm sophistication with a chic downtown attitude," John Cetra of CetraRuddy said in a statement. "The building creates a light reflectivity amidst a dense urban fabric. Its sculpted form of gleaming terracotta with a combination of angled and curvilinear window patterns creates exciting living spaces from within, while bringing visual lightness and artistic form to the streetscape."

Apartments at the Oskar will feature doors with smart locks, custom taupe oak wood floors and floor-to-ceiling, bay-like windows, according to a press release. All of the building's studio, one- and two-bedroom residences are rentals and the rates begin at $3,050 per month.

The building is named in honor of Oskar Brecher, who joined The Moinian Group in 2004 and died in 2016.
