Spice Market Meatpacking Location to Be Replaced by Dean & DeLuca
The iconic Asian marketplace and restaurant will close on Thursday to make way for the high-end grocery franchise.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Renowned Asian marketplace and restaurant Spice Market will serve its last meal on Thursday, Sept. 29 before vacating its iconic Meatpacking District location, the restaurant announced. The high-end grocery store Dean & DeLuca will likely replace its location at 403 E. 13 St., sources told The New York Post.
The Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant is closing at the end of the month even though its lease didn't expire until 2017, The Real Deal reported. The restaurant is planning to relocate, it said in an announcement.
"As you heard, after nearly 13 years in our current iconic Meatpacking District location, Spice Market will host its last service on September 29th, 2016 — with sadness closing our landmark restaurant, yet excitement about our bright future," the restaurant said in the announcement.
