Target To Open Hell's Kitchen Store This Year

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — Apparently undaunted by the "retail apocalypse" brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, Target is moving ahead with plans to open a new Hell's Kitchen store by the end of this year, a company spokesperson confirmed.

"I can confirm that our Manhattan Hells Kitchen Target store, located at 615 10th Ave., is planned to open later this year," Target spokesperson Whitney Webster told Patch.

"As we get closer to opening the store, we’ll have more specific details to share – including how the shopping experience will be tailored to serve local guests and the grand opening date."

For nearly three years, Target has planned to open a store in the 10th Avenue location that was once home to a Hess gas station and is now the site of an 80-unit condominium development, slated to open sometime this year.

Target's 29,000-square-foot space will house one of its smaller-scale stores, which the company calls "flexible format" and has opened in a number of cities across the country.

Target has fared better than most retailers during the pandemic, reporting revenue growth and planning to open more than two dozen new stores before the end of the year, The Real Deal reported.
