VIDEO: Timelapse of Workers Destroying Entire Block for One Vanderbilt
The future third-tallest building in Manhattan is set to start building now that the demolition process is over.
MIDTOWN, NY — The extensive year-long demolition process to make way for what will be the third-tallest building in Manhattan is finished, and the developer of the new building is celebrating with a time-lapse video.
SL Green, the developer behind the future One Vanderbilt building, knocked down a whole block's worth of buildings around Grand Central to make room for it. Designed by Kohn Pederson Fox, the 58-story building will be located between 42nd and 43rd streets.
When the building is completed in an expected five years, it is supposed to be the third-tallest building in the city, behind 1 World Trade Center and the planned Central Park Tower.
