NEW YORK, NY — Manhattan never sleeps, and this weekend is no different. Here’s what’s happening.

New York Empire State Tattoo Expo 2018
Neighborhood: Midtown
What: A three-day festival where ink lovers can meet and get tattooed by world-famous artists, check out vendors and enjoy burlesque and circus performances throughout the weekend.
Where: New York Hilton Midtown, Sixth Avenue between West 53rd and West 54th streets
When: Friday, 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.; Saturday from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.; Sunday, 12 to 7 p.m.

NYRR Cupcake Fun Run
Neighborhood: Hell’s Kitchen
What: Take a three- or five-mile running tour through the best cupcake bakeries New York City’s west side has to offer. Participation is free, but runners must purchase their own baked goods.
Where: NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the NB Run Hub, West 57th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues
When: The sugar coma commences Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Go Africa Harlem 2018 Street Festival
Neighborhood: Harlem
What: This celebration of African, African-American and Caribbean culture will feature freshly-cooked ethnic food and three stages that will showcase dance, art, music and attire from each.
Where: West 116th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and Frederick Douglass boulevards
When: Get your dose of culture Saturday at 10 a.m.

Hester Street Fair Test Kitchen
Neighborhood: Lower Manhattan
What: The third-annual Test Kitchen event is where chefs, food vendors and businesses can show off their first-time creations. This year’s theme is bold foods, featuring uniquely-prepared dishes like Korean-inspired, southern barbecue and cuisine made from food waste.
Where: Hester Street Fair, Hester Street at Essex Street
When: Saturday at 11 a.m.

City of Water Day
Neighborhood:
Roosevelt Island
What: Explore New York City’s shorelines during this citywide harbor festival. Learn about invasive plants the history of landfilling and how each have affected the city’s waterways. Participants will also get a chance to make their own field notebooks out of an invasive plant known as the common reed.
Where: Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park at the southernmost tip of Roosevelt Island
When: Saturday at 11 a.m.

McDonald's FIFA World Cup Viewing Party
Neighborhood:
Chelsea
What: Watch France take on Croatia during the final World Cup game during this free event. McDonald’s will be serving up breakfast on a first-come, first-served basis. Other features include live entertainment and family-friendly activities.
Where: Big Screen Plaza, Sixth Avenue at West 30th Street
When: Sunday at 9 a.m. Kick-off is at 11 a.m.

Family Fun Day
Neighborhood:
New York Harbor
What: This free outdoor festival celebrates Governors Island’s green spaces and “playful” attitude with live music, theatrical performance, arts and crafts, educational workshops, face painting, games, a build-your-own playground, ice cream and other tasty snacks. Ferries are free before 12 p.m. Children under 12 ride for no charge no matter what the hour.
Where: Nolan Park, Governors Island
When: The family fun begins Sunday at 11 a.m.

Summer in the South of France Tasting
Neighborhood: Upper East Side
What: A Bastille Day celebration with a selection of wines, beers, cheeses, ham and artisan breads from the south of France. A prize drawing will be held during the event.
Where: French Institute Alliance Française, East 60th Street between Park and Madison avenues
When: Sunday at 12 p.m.

NYC Plant Swap Part II
Neighborhood: Lower Manhattan
What: Bring a pesticide-free potted or bare-root plant — or two or three — to trade with your neighbors. This event is in high demand among New Yorkers. Part one, scheduled for 12 p.m. Sunday, is already sold out.
Where: Project Farmhouse, East 13th Street between Broadway and Fourth Avenue.
When: Start the swap on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Young Thug At FREQ
Neighborhood: Hell’s Kitchen
What: A headlining performance from rapper and singer-songwriter Young Thug, who has won the hearts of millions of fans since his 2014 rise to fame.
Where: FREQ, West 50th Street at 12th Avenue
When: Sunday at 9 p.m.
