The NYPD said an emotionally disturbed person jumped in front of a train just before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.

MIDTOWN, NY — A young man was killed jumping in front of an A train at the 42nd Street-Port Authority subway stop during Tuesday morning's commute, according to officials.

An NYPD spokesperson said they could not confirm the man's exact age, but DNAinfo reported he was just 16 years old.

Police said the man was emotionally disturbed and acting irrationally on the platform before witnesses saw him jump in front of the A train as it entered the station just before 8 a.m. Paramedics were called to the scene at 7:52 a.m., but the man was pronounced dead on the scene.
