Andrae Mitchell, candidate for NY State Assembly in District 89, this Wednesday announced his campaign launch for the 2022 Democratic Primary.

Mitchell, the first candidate to announce in this race, is running against Assemblymember Pretlow, a 30-year incumbent who hasn’t had a serious challenger during his time in Albany.
"It's time to up the ante for Yonkers and Mount Vernon," said Mitchell of his district. “I'm running to make sure we get the resources we deserve to grow into the jewel of Westchester I know we can be.”

Mitchell is a public servant with experience across government, nonprofits, politics, and community activism. He’s worked on the ground in the community to create youth enrichment programs from scratch, make Universal PreK a reality for New York City, and he’s worked for several progressive elected officials.
“The more we hear from people within the community, the more we'll be able to find solutions that really matter,” he said about his experience. “I’ve laid down roots in this community, and I’m committed to serving the needs of Mount Vernon and Yonkers and advocating in Albany to deliver results,” said Mitchel of his run for office.
