The work will give the bridge a higher clearance to it might not be hit by trucks entering the parkway by mistake.
MOUNT VERNON, NY — The Bronx River Parkway northbound ramp (Exit 11W) to the Cross County Parkway westbound in Yonkers will be closed for three nights starting Wednesday and continuing evenings through Friday. The bridge rehabilitation work is part of an $18 million project to rehabilitate the Bronx River Parkway and two bridges, from the Cross County Parkway to Scarsdale Road in Mount Vernon and Yonkers.
The work will be done from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
They're building a new concrete bridge deck and modifying the structural steel to improve the existing clearance to 14 feet from under 11 feet, so any trucks that mistakenly enter the parkway will no longer strike the bridge.
