City of Mount Vernon — Seeking Information on Police Radios

The City of Mount Vernon is currently exploring opportunities in the public safety technology communications corridor.

We invite interested parties to submit proposals, financing structures, potential lease agreements to upgrade and provide maintenance to the City of Mount Vernon’s Police Department and their collaborating agencies. The City of Mount Vernon intends to select a state-of-the-art system with the best equipment currently available.

We are requesting proposals, draft financing structures, and/or potential lease agreements from qualified vendors to provide a seamless inter-agency radio system to support mission critical communications within the City of Mount Vernon.

Responding vendors should have experience in radio communications hardware and maintenance plans to urban public safety departments and their users. The proposed communications system shall provide enhanced Public Safety voice wireless communications capabilities for all of the city’s existing agencies with the capability of supporting seamless interoperability with federal, state, and local law enforcement and first responders in the region.

The City of Mount Vernon expects to achieve the following goals with the implementation of the new public safety communications network:

  • A turnkey, state-of-the-art, public safety radio communications network.
  • Enhance coverage and reliability
  • Seamless integration with federal, state, and local law enforcement and first responders in the region.

The selected vendor will be responsible for the following items:

  • A project management plan detailing the process by which the new and/or upgrade public safety radio communications network will be implemented.
  • Upgrade and/or replacement of existing public safety radio communications network, with minimum disruption of current network.
  • Training associated with the use of the network
  • Warranty and maintenance of the network for a period of, at minimum, ten years.
  • Removal of existing public safety radio communications network, if warranted.
  • Technical support for a period of, at minimum, ten years.
  • All installed equipment shall be new and meet FCC guidelines.

All submittals will be reviewed by the City of Mount Vernon Law Department. The City of Mount Vernon reserves the right to reject any proposals that do not meet the minimum requirements.
