Mount Vernon Couple Angry NYPD Cops Face No Serious Punishment

The 2 NYPD detectives who barged into their apartment will receive little disciplinary action.

Geneva and Richard Smith of Mount Vernon are angry that two New York Police Department detectives face no serious charges stemming from a 2015 incident when they barged into the couple’s apartment.

The couple’s allegations of abuse of authority were substantiated by New York City’s Civilian Complaint Review Board, according to The Journal News. The board's recommendation: Detectives John McCrossen and Michael Greaney be disciplined with a loss of 10 days’ pay.

On Sept. 15, McCrossen and Greaney, in plainclothes, were working in Mount Vernon without alerting the Mount Vernon police, according to The Journal News. They went to the Smiths’ apartment and told Geneva Smith they were seeking a man and that they had a warrant. They didn't show it, but they did force their way in and knock Geneva Smith to the ground. authorities said. They left before the Mount Vernon police arrived.
