Cross Country Shopping Center Hosts SummerFest 2017

The SummerFest will include food, music, shopping and exercise classes suitable for the whole family from now until August.

From Cross County Summer Fest: Summer has officially begun at Cross County Shopping Center and the outdoor mall is gearing up for SummerFest 2017. The seasonal series starts this week and runs through August with a variety of attractions for area residents, shoppers and guests to enjoy, including a new poster contest and a “Foodie Fridays” celebration of food trucks. “There’s no doubt we are all ready for warmer weather and we’ve prepared an amazing line up of engaging outdoor activities our shoppers will love. On any given day, visitors can enjoy live music with new bands, dance parties for kids, a Style Lounge with beauty stations plus fitness classes and more,” said Liz Pollack, Senior Manager of Marketing for Cross County Shopping Center. “We’re all about creating a fun, exciting experience while visiting your favorite stores and eateries!” Cross County Shopping Center is celebrating its 7th annual SummerFest, which offers shoppers free entertainment with free parking. See below this year’s lineup of attractions. Here’s What’s New at SummerFest! SUMMERFEST POSTER CONTEST Area artists are invited to help shape the creative culture of SummerFest by designing an official series poster. Professional, student and amateur artists can submit a two-dimensional original piece of art, representing the SummerFest theme, for the chance to win cash prizes and have their poster re-printed for distribution at the shopping center.

  • 1st Place:$1,500
  • 2nd Place: $750
  • 3rd Place: $500

Enter through June 2nd on the center’s website. There is no fee to participate. Participants must be 18 years or older to enter. The winner will be announced by June 9, 2017 via phone and email, and then announced to the public on the center’s website and social media pages.

FOODIE FRIDAYS Shoppers can join in on a not-to-be-missed food truck party at Cross County Shopping Center, which will take place on the first three Fridays of August. Guests will enjoy some of the tastiest food truck cuisine favorites along with samples from Cross County Shopping Center eateries. There will be live music from bands covering a range of music genres.

A portion of the Food Truck sale proceeds will benefit Food Bank for Westchester, the leading hunger-relief organization in Westchester County, which supports over 265 front-line hunger relief programs. The Food Bank for Westchester provides 95 percent of all the food given to hungry families, children and seniors as cooked meals or groceries to take home.

Familiar Favorites at SummerFest Fit Fest Shoppers are invited to get on The Green, in the center of the mall, to “shape up” during Fit Fest. In partnership with Blink Fitness and Central Park Dance, attendees will enjoy learning hip hop, jazzercise or ballet dance moves or participate in a “boost camp” style workout. Attendees will receive special promotional giveaways and can take advantage of health and fitness items from outdoor vendor tables.

  • Boost Camp with Blink Fitness: Thursday, May 25 at 6:00 p.m.; Wednesday, May 31 at 6:00 p.m.; Wednesday, June 7 at 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday, June 14 at 6:00 p.m.
  • Jazzercise from Central Park Dance: Friday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m.; Friday, June 9 at 10:00 a.m. and Friday, June 23 at 10:00 a.m.
  • Fairy Tale Ballet for Kids from Central Park Dance:Saturday, June 10 at 12:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m.
  • Hip Hop Dances from Central Park Dance: Saturday, June 10 at 12:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 24 at 12:00 p.m.

Fireworks & Concert Celebration: Friday, June 30, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. In celebration of Independence Day, the Broadway Project Band will perform a concert on the SummerFest stage from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. followed by a spectacular fireworks show from the north parking lot at 9:00pm (a portion of the lot will be closed for parking). FREE!

Kid’s DJ Dance Party: Thursdays, July 13, 20 and 27, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A popular NYC DJ will host an interactive kids’ dance party from the main SummerFest stage with contests, quick dance lessons and lots of fun. FREE!

Outdoor Concerts: Wednesdays, June 21 and July 5-26, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Shoppers are invited to bring their beach blankets and chairs to The Green and enjoy live music by some of the hottest tribute bands. This year’s lineup includes the following bands: June 21: FDR Drive Band, July 5: NY Bee Gees, July 12: A surprise tribute to the 80’s announced soon, July 19: TUSK The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute, July 26: Genessa & The Selena Experience. Style Lounge: Saturday, August 12, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Shoppers looking for great style tips for the end of summer and up-coming fall seasons can check out the Style Lounge, which will include stations make-up, nails, fashion shows and more. Professional stylists will be on hand to give tips, share trends and provide sample looks. Visitors can also have fun in the selfie photo booth and enjoy light refreshments. FREE!
