Early Morning Cinco De Mayo DWI And Resisting Arrest On I-87

Troopers say a Connecticut driver with a suspended license started celebrating much too early on Wednesday and is facing a slew of charges

YONKERS, NY — New York State Police say a Danbury, Connecticut driver got an early start on the Cinco de Mayo celebrations and ended up in handcuffs.

Troopers pulled over the car driven by Shamek Brown early this morning on I-87 in Yonkers. Soon after the 1:35 a.m. traffic stop, police say they discovered that the 49-year-old was not only intoxicated, but was also driving with a suspended license.

Brown compounded his problems by resisting arrest, police said. When he was eventually taken into custody, he reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test.
