The unofficial middle of summer holiday is coming up. Here's a breakdown of what's open and closed.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Wednesday is the Fourth of July — Independence Day — and you’ve got your holiday planned. You’ve got the sparklers, the buns for both hotdogs and burgers, propane or coals for the grill. But what if you need that one thing you just realized you forgot?
Here is a guide to what is open and what is closed for the holiday.
- Mail: Post offices will be closed Wednesday, express delivery only.
- New York State offices: Closed Wednesday.
- Municipal Offices: Closed Wednesday.
- Banks: Closed Wednesday.
- New York Stock Exchange: Closed Wednesday.
- Retail stores: It varies. A store may be closed or may have shortened hours on Wednesday. For example, the Palisades Center operates under regular business hours from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Supermarkets: Most likely open Wednesday, but may have shortened hours.
- Libraries: Closed Wednesday.
- Buses: Sunday schedule for the Bee-Line; Rockland will run no TZx buses; Sunday service on TOR #59, 91, 92, 93 and Loop 3; no service on 94, 95 and 97; regular service on Loops 1 and 2.
