Mount Vernon Public Library to Host 3RD Annual Comic Expo
FREE OUTDOOR EVENT TO TAKE PLACE ON SOUTH SECOND AVENUE
Mount Vernon, NY. - The Mount Vernon Public Library is hosting the Third Annual MVPL Comic Expo on Saturday, September 28 from 12:00 am to 7:00 pm on South Second Avenue between First and SecondStreets in Mount Vernon, New York.
The Mount Vernon Public Library’s Comic Expo is a free pop culture event featuring vendors, artists, entertainers, children’s activities, gaming tournaments, and much more! Cosplayers will be present throughout the day showing off their cosplay finery and will be interacting with attendees.
“We have expanded our children’s activity area and our entertainment stage is filled with musical guests. This year we are proud to have the 1966 Batmobile and the Ecto-1 from Ghostbuster Fame,” shared Expo coordinator, Cathy Webb. “There is something for everyone, cos-players, professional wrestlers, and special guests. The staff have raised the bar this year to bring the best MVPL Comic Expo yet.”
“An event like this brings out those passionate about comics, and those who are new to, or interested in, comics, anime and gaming," shared Ms. Evania Thompson, Director. “Our Comic Expo is filled with activities and is free to the public.”
There will be a cos-play contest for all ages with the winners taking home great prizes. Cos-play, the dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game, especially one from the Japanese genres of manga and anime, is a very popular attraction at comic conventions worldwide, and our cos-play contest is sure to be a smash.
Food and refreshments will be offered for purchase with a variety of cuisine offered by food truck vendors. The food trucks will compete this year for the title “Champion of the Killer Food Trucks”
Comic Expo has been made possible, in part, with a 2019 Arts Alive Project Grant from ArtsWestchester, and funding from NYS Assemblyman J. Gary Pretlow.
The Expo will be held on Saturday, September 28 rain or shine.
