Mount Vernon Rising!!!

MOUNT VERNON -- Mayor Richard Thomas, honored guest Doug E. Fresh, the Mount Vernon Industrial Development Agency and the Mount Vernon Department of Recreation will host a screening on City Hall Plaza on May 14 to debut “MOUNT VERNON RISING,” a short film promotional campaign.

The Mount Vernon Rising event will celebrate Mount Vernon’s future and its attractiveness as a location for businesses, new residential development and recreation.
Mayor Thomas will screen the new promotional film celebrating Mount Vernon’s progress and he will welcome celebrity guests, including:

• Doug E. Fresh, who will be honored as Mayor for the Day
• R&B vocal group Force M.D.’s, best known for two tunes that are widely considered 1980s quiet storm classics, "Tender Love" and "Love is a House"
• Talent from UniverSoul Circus, who will offer previews of their shows at Hutchinson Field from May 15 until May 27.

Hundreds of dollars in donated prizes will be raffled for FREE and a super-hot DJ will provide music. Free popcorn will be served. Seating will be first come, first served.
