MOUNT VERNON, NY — Schools are opening Thursday, but as of Wednesday the district's administration building is closed because a central office staffer tested positive for the coronavirus, News12 reported.

The district office on North Columbus Avenue will be cleaned and sanitized before being reopened Monday, the cable news network reported.

Mount Vernon changed to a remote-only school opening so that administrators can follow up with parents and guardians who have not chosen a learning model they prefer for their children — hybrid or fully remote.
