Pedestrian Critically Injured Crossing Saw Mill River Parkway

Traffic was at a near standstill for hours Wednesday afternoon after a car struck a man who was crossing the busy Westchester highway.

YONKERS, NY — A man is in critical condition after being struck by a car while crossing the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers.

Westchester County Police say the man was hit by a passing car at just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The pedestrian was stuck as he was attempting to cross the busy highway near the McLean Avenue Bridge.

The accident happened in the northbound lanes of the roadway after the man had already crossed three lanes of traffic and the concrete barrier between lanes, accident investigators said.
The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours following the pedestrian accident.
